In addition to interviewing former Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, about the Mensalão, Operation Lava-Jato and the impeachment of his protegé, The Intercept’s journalist, Glenn Greenwald, also sat down with the last elected Brazilian President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, days after being suspended by the House and the Senate. As it happened with Lula, Greenwald and Dilma spoke at great length about the reasons for her impeachment and how she intends to fight back to be reinstated as the Brazilian president. During the interview, Rousseff accepted that the decision by the Supreme Court to allow the impeachment proceedings to move forward was the right step, but she also explained that, as per the laws that govern the impeachment process, it won’t be the Supreme Court the one that will decide whether she will be impeached or not.
