Good luck with that.
“Donald Trump is no longer a self-funded candidate in name or practice, but the presumptive Republican nominee told The Associated Press that he is only relying on donors because the Republican National Committee asked him to do so.
‘The RNC really wanted to do it, and I want to show good spirit,’ Trump said, according to an AP story published Tuesday. ‘Cause I was very happy to continue to go along the way I was.’”
Get that, Trumpanzees? He’s no longer self-funded (although, he never actually was, since Fox News and various radio hosts gave him billions in free promotions).
Got it.
The gilded toad will be holding fundraising dinners in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday and Los Angeles, California on Wednesday.
The fund raising efforts will consist of $25,000-a-plate dinners.
That’s more than what some people make in a year. Not sure what’s on those plates, but it had not only better be really special, but the plates should be solid gold and the attendees should get to take them home.
Actually, the attendees should be able to drive them home.
When asked if his taking donations now, after talk of his being self-funded candidate was one of the selling points of his cultists from the beginning, this is contradictory:
“’No, because I’m raising money for the party,’ Trump said, although the first $5,400 of all checks written to the Trump Victory Fund will go to the candidate’s primary and general-election coffers and the balance will go to the RNC and 11 state parties. Donors can contribute up to nearly $450,000 apiece.”
One must wonder how the Branch Trumpidians will reason this one away. Will there be a period of intense cognitive dissonance?
He is taking donations. He will be beholden to corporations and lobbyists. He is a typical politician.
