Andrews Air Force Base on lockdown amid reports of active shooter – at the same time active shooter DRILL was supposed to start | 30 June 2016 | Joint Base Andrews in Maryland is on lockdown amid reports of an active shooter. All personnel were ordered to shelter in place shortly after 9am Eastern Time. It came at the same time that an active shooter training exercise was due to start at the base. Security has also been tightened at the nearby Ft Belvoir, Naval Observatory, and Navy Yard. Officials tweeted that the situation is centered on the base's Malcolm Grow Medical Facility.
