Activists from a British aid group have staged a protest at a border crossing after French authorities banned them from entering the country. They had organized an aid convoy for the refugees at the French port city of Calais.
Members of Convoy to Calais group held banners in defense of refugees and blocked road access to the Eurotunnel linking Britain to France. They threatened to stage a protest in front of the French embassy in London. The British activists had prepared an aid convoy of 250 vehicles for the refugees living at camps in the French city of Calais. They had planned to reach northern France by Saturday afternoon but French police did not allow them to board ferries, citing security reasons.
