Report clears Dilma Rousseff from fiscal crime – YouTube
A new report reveals that Brazil’s suspended president Dilma Rousseff didn’t engage in the creative accounting she was charged with at her impeachment trial. The report by independent auditors hired by Brazil’s Senate also says Rousseff didn’t delay payments to state-run banks as charged. But the auditors have noted that Rousseff authored three decrees in 2015, realizing additional credits without the Congress’s consent. The Senate voted in May to suspend Rousseff for allegedly breaking fiscal laws. Her defense says the report shows she didn’t commit any crime worthy of impeachment. The senators don’t have to follow the auditors’ findings when they vote again in August.
