Elections Are Bad For Democracy

Or at least so proclaims, The Guardian. Or maybe it’s something else that has them bothered ?

Brexit is a turning point in the history of western democracy. Never before has such a drastic decision been taken through so primitive a procedure – a one-round referendum based on a simple majority. Never before has the fate of a country – of an entire continent, in fact – been changed by the single swing of such a blunt axe, wielded by disenchanted and poorly informed citizens. — The Guardian

Hmmm Looks like they think voters are too stupid to make it through the day, well that would make elections a bad thing. Wonder if they have anything to elaborate on the point.

Trust in the institutions of democracy is also visibly declining. In the past five years, the European Union’s official research bureau found that less than 30% of Europeans had faith in their national parliaments and governments – some of the lowest figures in years, and an indication that almost three-quarters of people distrust their countries’ most important political institutions. Everywhere in the west, political parties – the key players in our democracies – are among the least trusted institutions in society. Although a certain scepticism is an essential component of citizenship in a free society, we are justified in asking how widespread this distrust might be and at what point healthy scepticism tips over into outright aversion.

Hmmmm so they are saying these people who didn’t know what they were doing, identified the institutions they had the least faith in and voted in a decisive manner to make them directly answerable to the voters, and removed an entire section of government that they had no trust in and removed themselves from under the thumb of an overgovernment they had absolutely zero control over.

Seems to me that the British saved their democracy with this. But what do I know, I believe the government that governs the least governs best.

Courageous Gun Stops Shooting In Georgia

Well that would be the title if everyone lived in the world the media does. A world where guns act on their own. The correct title is “Two Courageous Concealed Carriers Stopped Shooting In Georgia”

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — Augusta Police say two bystanders, legally armed with handguns, stepped in during a shooting incident at a Walmart in Augusta.

Police say four suspects were taken into custody by police Sunday after allegedly firing gunshots in the parking lot of a Walmart.

The suspects involved were sitting in vehicles parked next to each other when the altercation arose. The occupants of one vehicle fired at the occupants of the other, which resulted in return gunfire. —WCSH6

Just a note the armed bystanders used their guns to stop the suspects from firing theirs and allowing police to arrest the criminals.

New Book Claims Clinton Foundation Making Large Contributions To Charity

This threw me until I looked up the definition of charity in the 2016 Newspeak Dictionary.

Charity: Noun: The diversion of money from people in need to people you know personally

According to the new book “Partners In Crime”

Jerome Corsi claims in his book, Partners in Crime, that the Clinton Foundation is ‘a vast, criminal conspiracy’ and ‘a slush fund for grifters’
The money that was donated to help earthquake victims in India and Haiti and HIV/AIDs sufferers has mostly enriched the Clintons, Corsi claims
The Clinton family also schemed to monetize the White House
Hillary used her position as Secretary of State to leverage lucrative deals for the Foundation as well as six-figure speaking fees for Bill Clinton
The scheme engineered through the Foundation has enriched the Clintons by hundreds of millions of dollars
