Why Did the FBI Ignore the Warning That the Orlando Shooter Was Not Acting Alone? (VIDEO)

(Before It's News)

One of the ongoing themes of the Obama administration in regards to the unprecedented series of terrorist attacks carried out on American soil under his sad and pathetic regime is that each of these attacks have been the work of “lone wolf” attackers and the FBI and Homeland Security and the NSA could not possibly have been able to prevent them.

When you go over the history, whether in is Nidal Hassan, or the Tsarnaev brothers, the Times Square plot, the Little Rock recruiting station attack, the Chattanooga recruiting station attack, San Bernardino, the murder of two NYPD officers, the Garland, Texas, attack, the refrain is always the same: they worked alone. There is no way we could have known. The same narrative is now being built around Omar Mateen, the gay jihadi who shot up a gay nightclub in Orlando.

There is evidence, however, that Omar Mateen was more than merely inspired by radical Islam, he may have been working under someone’s direction. Mateen was no newcomer to radical Islam. He had been interviewed on as many three occasions by the FBI. His open spouting of Islamic radical ideology was some, but he also attended a mosque with a US citizen who when on to become a suicide bomber. One once occasion he threaten to shoot up a picnic because pork barbecue was being served. He was affiliated with a radical imam who was serving time in prison. Each time, though, the FBI found some reason to explain away the connections to terrorism.

Now this from CBS News:

The co-owner of a Florida gun store says his employees contacted law enforcement before the Orlando shooting after gunman Omar Mateen attempted to purchase body armor and ammunition.

Robbie Abell, co-owner of Lotus Gunworks, said Thursday his workers had a gut feeling about Mateen when he came to the store four or five weeks ago.

Mateen asked for level 3 body armor, according to Abell, but was told the store didn’t carry it. He then made a phone call and spoke in Arabic before asking for bulk ammunition, but employees did not sell it to him.

Abell told reporters “we contacted FBI direct” after Mateen left the store but he did not elaborate on how investigators responded. He believed his employees did what they should have done, Abell said.

Level 3 body armor is resistant to 7.62mm and 5.56mm NATO ammunition.

Follow the sequence of events. He tries to buy military grade body armor, something that would withstand hits from any weapon carried by a SWAT team, and when he finds the store doesn’t carry it he calls someone. There is a conversation in Arabic (I don’t know how they knew this, Mateen was Afghan. Be that as it may, we know he did speak a foreign language.) Then he tries to purchase ammunition in bulk but the store declined to sell it to him.

A store employee calls the FBI to report it.

Law enforcement officials have told CBS News at this point, they have not found any evidence that the gun shop contacted police about Mateen’s alleged suspicious behavior.

Of course. But it doesn’t take a genius to do a quick cui bono test here. What does a gun shop that sold NOTHING to Omar Mateen have to gain by interjecting itself into a federal investigation by lying about the contact? Nothing. In fact, it might very well be a felony to do so. On the other hand, what does the FBI have to lose by admitting they received a warning and did nothing? A lot. It is not hard to imagine a bored FBI agent fielding the call, and, knowing the prevailing political climate, deciding that the lowest risk course of action was to ignore the call because investigating a Muslim can kill your career.

The administration and the FBI have a vested political and institutional interest in portraying an accelerating sequence of attacks by radical Islamists that appear to parallel attacks carried out in France and Belgium. And the number and increasing ferocity of the attacks is making the “lone wolf” theory less and less plausible.
