The US-led anti-terror coalition in Syria has been “astonishingly” silent about recent reports claiming dozens of civilian casualties in Manbij were caused by its airstrikes, Russia’s UN Ambassador said, expressing fears that the probe could be scuttled.
Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on Monday, Vitaly Churkin said that, while Moscow has been “extremely worried” by the reports of civilian deaths in northern Syria, delegations from the Western countries “astonishingly… did not say a word” regarding the matter during the meeting.
Pointing out that an investigation into civilian casualties caused by NATO bombings in Libya has not been forthcoming even five years on, Churkin said no “promises of investigation” on the Manjib deaths were necessary. “I’m sure the American military already very well know the state of affairs,” the UN Ambassador said.

Sources in Syria rejected the Israeli army claims that their attacks on Syria on Monday came in reprisal for several rounds of Syrian mortar fire on its positions in the occupied Golan Heights.
“The claims raised by the Zionist regime’s military officials are sheer lies and their positions in the occupied Golan Heights were not attacked,” a field source told FNA on Tuesday.
“In the past few months, the Zionists have targeted the Syrian army bases under fake pretexts and in line with their support for the terrorists,” the source added.
The source said that the Zionists seek to add fuel to the fire of clashes in Southern Syria to divert public attention on the war in Aleppo.
Israeli fighter planes carried out bombing raids on positions in Syria’s Golan Heights on Monday night.
The Israeli military claimed that the attacks were carried out after a mortar round was fired into the Israeli-occupied side of the Golan Heights from Syria on Monday.
The Syrian army said drones were used in the attack that targeted a civilian home in Golan.
According to the Israeli claims, no injuries were reported from the mortar fire which landed in an uninhabited area.
Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria after the 1967 six-day war and later occupied it in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
The regime has built tens of illegal settlements in the area ever since and has used the region to carry out a number of military operations against the Syrian government.

About the American plane crashed yesterday in western Anbar province. The Pentagon has officially denied the loss of any machines in western Iraq.
