(Before It's News)

If you think Ted Cruz took a stand, just look at Governor John Kasich.

The Ohio Governor and former contender for the presidency remained steadfast in explaining his decision not to appear at last week’s GOP convention in Cleveland.

“Ohio’s a snapshot of the country. People in Ohio want to see a positive agenda, a positive way to move forward,” Kasich told the Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday.

“[W]e’ll see what happens in the future. But right now, there’s just too many differences,” Kasich said. “There will be no way that I’m going to vote for Hillary Clinton. As for what I do in the end, I don’t know.”

Kasich called Trump a “divider,” and noted that while he has no plans to actively campaign against Trump, that doesn’t equate into support for Trump at the polls in November.

There have been some recent reports that Kasich was who Trump originally wanted as his running mate, but Kasich had no interest in playing second in a Trump administration.

It’s very likely that Kasich, like Cruz, sees a loss for the GOP in November and wants to keep his name clear, in order to take another shot at the presidency.

Time will tell, but for now, Kasich is showing some backbone.

  • He has as much chance of ever being Prez as Hills has of being truthful. He should pick Cruz as VP!
They didn’t want him in 2016, they won’t 4 or 8 years down the road either.
