New Hires to Trump Campaign Look to Tighten His Message
The revolving door that is Donald Trump’s campaign staff keeps turning.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has hired Bryan Lanza, the former communications director of Citizens United, as its deputy communications director for surrogates. Lanza will work with Trump’s high-profile supporters to ensure they are delivering a cohesive message that resonates with voters.
So, basically, this guy’s job is to lock Ben Carson in a closet until after November.
Additionally, Trump has hired veteran Republican operative Steven Cheung to serve as the campaign’s director of rapid response. Cheung will work on swiftly rebutting claims from Hillary Clinton about Trump. He will also respond to breaking news and “false or unbalanced reporting.”
This is an ambitious undertaking, considering the precision of the Clinton machine’s penchant for getting down in the mud and manipulating every bump and wart to their advantage. The fact that Trump is a non-stop gaffe generator only makes it easier for them.
I’ll leave some space here to report on the exit of Mr. Lanza and Mr. Cheung, considering the high turnover rate in the Trump camp. In fact, nobody will be shocked to hear that both Lanza and Cheung have “moved on,” by the time you finish reading this.
