Five Palestinians were injured with live fire and ten others with rubber-coated steel bullets, while several more suffered from tear gas inhalation on Wednesday as Israeli forces raided the city of Dura after midnight in the Southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron. Sources at the Palestinian Red Crescent said that ambulances carried dozens of Palestinians to hospitals in the Hebron area who suffered from light to medium injuries, with one sustaining critical injuries, Ma’an reported. According to locals, Palestinian youths threw rocks at Israeli forces as they raided Dura, which is located southwest of Hebron City, and Israeli soldiers responded by opening fire on Palestinians and launching tear gas canisters at youth and at civilian homes.
Israeli forces have come under repeated criticism for excessive use of force, as well as lethal methods of crowd control that often result in death or injury of protesters. The clashes came amid an ongoing Israeli military siege of the entirety of Hebron, restricting passage out of the occupied West Bank’s most populous city to humanitarian and military cases only. Locals also reported that Israeli forces raided Hebron City overnight, detaining three Palestinians.

Israeli forces detained Thursday three Palestinians, including two minors, from the Southern West Bank districts of Bethlehem and Hebron, said security sources. Forces detained two Palestinian minors during a predawn raid that sparked clashes in Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, WAFA reported. The detainees were identified as Saleh al-Asad, 17, and Ahmad al-Azraq, 16.
During clashes, soldiers fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades toward local youths. No injuries were reported though. Meanwhile, forces detained Hanadi Rashid, 22, a mother of three girls, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron’s Old City. Rashid was handcuffed and detained purportedly for possessing a knife.
