RNC Chairman Priebus: Trump Lies – So What?

(Before It's News)

Did I mention what a weasel-y character RNC chairman Reince Priebus is?

The RNC’s resident Baghdad Bob continues to insult our intelligence with asinine statements about GOP nominee Trump’s worth as a candidate.

The latest cringe-worthy narrative to come out of Mr. Priebus was in regards to Trump’s vile suggestion of Senator Ted Cruz’s dad being tied to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Speaking on Sunday, Priebus, with a straight face, uttered this explanation:

“He’s got a right to talk about whatever he wants to talk about, however, I don’t think he was ever saying this was some sort of factual information,” Priebus said at a press conference on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. “It was something he referred to. He’s talked about it, he’s gotten off from it. As far as I’m concerned, we can move on from it.”

Let me shorten that up: Trump says stupid stuff. Can we pretend we don’t hear it?

No, Mr. Priebus. You can’t blow something so incendiary and insulting off as just casual conversation. This is your candidate, and he’s running for the highest office in the land. Those of us who are actually civilized and reasonably sane expect our representatives to hold higher standards of conduct.

“I think he mentioned it in passing and everybody glommed onto it and it became a controversy, but I think as far as the overall picture of Donald Trump —” Priebus said, “I mean, that is one rhetorical issue that you can all debate until the cows come home, but it doesn’t identify the Donald Trump campaign.”

He publicly linked a sitting senator’s father to the assassination of a U.S. president. I’ve been saying this a lot, lately: Are you high?!

Telling us, in essence, that your candidate is prone to lying isn’t a confidence builder.

The alleged Russian mob fixer who runs Trump’s campaign suggested that it was Cruz, himself, who reignited the controversy, after refusing to endorse Trump at the convention and then stating later that he didn’t tend to endorse those who attack his family.

The facts are, Trump’s entire campaign, from the day he announced to this very moment has been built on insulting, abusive, and erratic behavior. Most of it has been directed towards other Republicans – that is, when he’s giving minorities, vets, and handicapped citizens a break.

Priebus may think whitewashing these incidents will make it all go away, but we’re 3 months away from the general election and Trump is as big of a public relations nightmare now as he was in the beginning.

You can’t shine a turd, Mr. Priebus.
