[Watch] #BlackLivesMatter Activist Calls For Abolishing Police
Yesterday, I wrote a piece about how we need to really listen to those from the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Last night on The Kelly File, one activist did everything she could to make me feel stupid.
Jessica Disu, an activist from Chicago, called for police to be abolished. Take a look:
“We need to abolish the police, period. Demilitarize the police, disarm the police, and we need to come up with community solutions for transformative justice.”, she said, but when pressed on the issue of who would protect the community without the police, she was left practically speechless.
I know there are many on both sides that see the problem with police violence, but disarming or “abolishing” the police only leads to chaos and more violence. “Community solutions” are not solutions, they are merely cop outs (no pun intended).
