Yay Socialism! Venezuela Now Forcing its Citizens into Doing Hard Labor to Combat Food Shortage

(Before It's News)

Venezuela has actually found the road to serfdom.

Just to further drive the nail into the coffin that socialism does not work – looking at you Bernie Sanders – the latest news out of Venezuela should be a clear indicator that this hard left political system is pure crap.

To combat the food shortage currently plaguing the socialist country, Nicolás Maduro signed a decree that requires any person in public or private employment, to spend 60 days working in the fields to help produce food for the Venezuelan people.

According to the law, this 60 days can be extended to another 60 days ”if the circumstances require it.” In socialist speak, that means you’re about to spend a good portion of your year in the fields. Possibly longer.

According to Maduro, this decree is supposed to “guarantee food supply, social justice, and democracy.”

Social justice is literally starving people now.

How it will guarantee social justice, or democracy by forcing people into the fields is only something a socialist, or a social justice warrior could justify. Outside of food, however, there is still the major problem of Venezuela running out of everything. There’s no toilet paper, medical supplies, and even rolling blackouts.

These are problems Maduro’s socialism has caused, and you can’t put people in the fields to bring back the corporations that left due to supply shortages.

Amnesty International has called this move by Maduro “unlawful,” and Erika Guevara Rosas, Americas Director at Amnesty International has said that ”Trying to tackle Venezuela’s severe food shortages by forcing people to work the fields is like trying to fix a broken leg with a band aid.”

She is correct. Forced labor won’t save the country, but capitalism will. Maduro, like any good socialist however, has blamed his country’s failings on capitalism, and right wing businesses supported by U.S. imperialism.

CNN has noted, however, that Maduro has a past of making decrees go completely unfulfilled.

It’s important to note that Maduro has issued decrees before and they often just languish. In January, his government published a decree that put in place mechanisms to restrict the access and movements to the money in the accounts. In other words, a kind of bank freeze. However, that hasn’t happened yet.

Whether the Venezuelan government actually follows through with making their citizens work in the fields, we’ll see. A national assembly is already planning to convene to discuss the decree, but under Venezuelan law, this means almost nothing as the Assembly can’t cancel out a decree.

Venezuela’s problems should be a very hard lesson for modern day socialists everywhere. The system that many a brainwashed college student, and full time protester call “fair” repeatedly only results in failure. Venezuela’s failure is such a black mark on the socialist’s argument that even Bernie Sanders himself refused to talk about it when asked.

Socialism. Not even once.
