Informed Yemeni sources disclosed that the country’s security and popular forces have foiled a plot by the supporters of Al-Qaeda terrorist group to carry out sabotage and terrorist activities in Sana’a. “The Yemeni security forces and Ansarullah fighters managed to identify and capture several terrorists who were trying to conduct sabotage operations in the Yemeni capital and several other provinces,” the Arabic-language al-Massira news website quoted an unnamed security sources as saying on Monday.
The source noted that Yemen’s Islah Political Party is the main sponsor of Al-Qaeda terrorist attacks across Yemen.
In mid-June, a senior military commander announced that the Yemeni army and popular forces would launch large-scale military operations against the Takfiri terrorist groups in Hadhramaut province soon. “The Yemeni army backed by Ansarullah forces is prepared for a major assault on the military positions and concentration centers of the ISIL and Al-Qaeda terrorist groups in Hadhramaut region in Southeastern Yemen,” Yemeni Army Commander Colonel Hessam Abdel Razzaq al-Ahari told FNA in Sana’a. He reiterated that the Yemeni army and popular forces are planning to stage massive military operations against the Takfiri terrorist groups to force them back from their positions in the province.
Also in early June, a senior Ansarullah commander announced that popular forces have made significant advances in Sana’a, and inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists near the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait over the past 24 hours. “The Yemeni army and popular forces took control of Wadi al-Ghail region near Mefraq al-Jawf paving the way for reopening Ma’rib road to Farza Na’am and Sana’a,” Hossein al-Houthi told FNA.
Meantime, at least a dozen terrorists were killed and many more were wounded in clashes with Ansarullah fighters in the popular forces’ attack on their military positions in Sana’a.
“The Yemeni popular forces will take full control of Bab al-Mandeb Strait soon,” al-Houthi added.
