Fellow Conservative,
For months, we have focused on the GOP’s “surrender” of the Supreme Court and growing willingness to confirm Barack Obama’s radical nominee, Merrick Garland.
We made a serious mistake in classifying this as “surrender” and we would like to apologize.
In order to surrender, you need to be willing to fight in the first place… The GOP can’t surrender something that they never bothered to fight for…
It takes 60 votes in the Senate to confirm a Supreme Court nominee. That means that if 16 Republicans vote with the Democrats, then Merrick Garland will be added to the Supreme Court.
The votes are there. If every Republican who has announced their desire or openness to confirm Garland actually followed through, another liberal judge would be added to the bench with votes to spare.
Now you know why many within the GOP are rushing to push this nominee through.
The Supreme Court was just deadlocked on whether or not the President has the power to legalize millions of illegal aliens by executive order. The final vote was 4-4, which left a lower court ruling (against the administration) in place.
Barack Obama has officially re-filed his case with the Court and asked them to reconsider. No, he is not just being belligerent. He is expecting another liberal to be on the bench to alter the result. Having the GOP cave and confirm Garland would be the only way he could get his desired outcome. Merrick Garland would be the vote that opens the floodgates for Obama’s amnesty.
In 2008, the Supreme Court issued a 5-4 ruling in Heller v DC that Americans have an individual right to own firearms. The Scalia decision struck down a law that literally prohibited DC residents from owning a handgun at all. If the issue was reheard today, the vote from the Supreme Court would be another tie (4-4). When this case was making its way through the courts, a panel of the DC Appeals Court actually ruled that the anti-gun law was unconstitutional.
Merrick Garland – on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals at the time – voted to rehear the case. The only reason he would do this is if he believes that states should be allowed to ban handguns. If Merrick Garland is added to the bench, the 2nd Amendment is dead.
On these two issues alone, adding Garland to the Supreme Court would be devastating.
It is no surprise that Senators like Jeff Flake and Susan Collins are pushing to confirm this radical judge. Flake was a member of the Gang of Eight and pushed amnesty and Collins was one of just four Republicans who voted for the 2013 gun control bill. It is also no surprise that these are two of the most vocal pro-Hillary Republicans on Capitol Hill…
We just got word that the votes are there and much of the GOP leadership is preparing to confirm Obama’s radical nominee regardless of the results of the November election!
That is perhaps the most shocking news. No matter who wins the Presidency, the GOP is going to put Obama’s leftist judge onto the bench anyway.
GOP leadership would rather have an anti-gun, pro-amnesty Justice on the bench than a steadfast Conservative.
It’s shameful…
For GOP members to be pushing forward to confirm a Democratic lame-duck President’s nominee tells you pretty much all you need to know about these so-called conservatives.
The plans behind the scenes to cave are already being laid out. They are planning to push Garland through committee prior to the election and then hold a final confirmation vote just after Election Day, regardless of the outcome.
The future of this country is literally at stake. What is happening now behind closed doors will decide the future of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
They are in the minority, but the unfortunate truth is that it only takes a minority of turncoat Republicans to side with the Democrats to get this done. It only takes 16 Republicans.
We peg the number of Republicans, at least, willing to consider Garland at either 17 or 18.
We’re so close to losing this fight.
There are really only two choices: stand and fight or sit back and accept the biggest GOP ‘surrender’ in history.
I don’t know about you, but I am going to FIGHT!
Sincerely,
Joe Otto

The second amendment is the only gun law that exits – and all it does is limit GOVERNMENT. All other gun laws are illegal and unconstitutional.
