No, Hillary Did Not Say She Would Absolutely, Positively Oppose TPP

(Before It's News)

I’ve covered these Clintons for a long time, and you have to watch them like a red-tailed hawk. They’re both attorneys, both longtime politicians, and both dishonest. Bad combination.

The big news out of the Clinton economic speech Thursday was that she supposedly said unequivocally that she would oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership. But look closely. That’s not what she said.

First, she teed up her comment by knocking those who oppose TPP.

“The answer is not to rant and rave or cut ourselves off from the world. That would end up killing even more jobs,” she said.

And then, the kicker:

“I will stop any trade deal that kills jobs or hold down wages, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership. I oppose it now, I’ll oppose after the election, and I’ll oppose it as president.”

Get it? Any trade deal that kills jobs or holds down wages. She left herself an out.

One can hear her six months or a year into her presidency saying:

“What I said is that I would stop any trade deal that kills jobs. Through tireless work, we have changed the Trans-Pacific Partnership so that now it’s a job creator, not a job killer.”

Now that sounds like our Hillary, right?
