“Hezbollah’s victory proved weakness of Israeli army”
The leader of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says Israel failed to achieve its goal of crushing the resistance during the 33-day-war on Lebanon a decade ago. Nasrallah said during the 2006 July war the resistance proved that Israel’s military doctrine is no longer effective. The Hezbollah chief noted that the Israeli war on Lebanon was primarily a U-S plan that Tel Aviv put into practice. He said Washington was seeking to create a new Middle East but gave up the aim facing Hezbollah’s steadfastness during the July war. Nasrallah went on to say the resistance’s victory shattered confidence in the Israeli army’s capabilities and surprised the Israeli political establishment. He said the defeat has cast doubt on Israel’s ability to continue to exist in the region. Jim W. Dean Managing Editor, Veterans Today
