ABC’s Modern Family to Feature Child ‘Transgender’ Actor
The hit show ‘Modern Family’ on ABC has hired a “transgender” child actor for a guest spot. The actor is an 8-year-old girl who now identifies as a boy named Jackson Millarker. Jackson plays “Tom”, a friend of Lily (the daughter of gay couple Cam and Mitchell).
I’m sure all kinds of important lessons will be learned about acceptance and tolerance and bigotry. You’ll notice I put transgender in quotes. That’s because I am uncomfortable normalizing that word for children.
Frankly, I’m uncomfortable normalizing it for anyone considering that the very concept of transgenderism flies in the face of thousands of years of science and biology, but as an American I’m down for whatever any adult wants to do with their own lives as long as it doesn’t interfere with my natural rights. Children, however are a different story.
Gender is not a social construct and a child’s brain is not developed enough to understand everything that is happening in their mind and body. An 8-year-old child is incapable of making the kind of decision for her body or her mental health that will have a lasting impact on the rest of her life. That’s our job as parents. The fact that we’re pretending its just fine and dandy that an 8-year-old girl believes she’s a boy tells me that has more to do with what the parents believe than what the child believes.
Trans-everything is dominating the media right now. After Jeffrey Tambor won an Emmy for his role in the Amazon series “Transparent” he admonished Hollywood for not casting more trans actors.
“Please give transgender talent a chance. Give them auditions. Give them their story… I would be happy if I were the last cisgender male to play a transgender female.”
In the past years gay, black and latino actors have made incredible leaps into the mainstream of entertainment culture. Non-Indian Asians still struggle to be represented in Hollywood and here we are skipping over them once again. Apparently they don’t really count in the “diversity” category in Hollywood. We’ve gone from race to sexuality in 0-60. I guess the Asians weren’t in the right lane.
As usual, Hollywood chooses fashionable activism instead of meaningful activism.
