Explosion rocks Manhattan: At least 25 injured as blast rips through Chelsea – hours after bomb targeted military run in New Jersey –Police responded to explosion in Chelsea neighborhood at West 23rd and Sixth Avenue around 8.30pm –Police have said cause of blast is unknown as bomb sniffing dogs search for remnants of a possible bomb –The subways in the area have been shut down because of the explosion, authorities said –NYPD has increased security across the city following the blast Saturday night as a precaution | 17 Sept 2016 | An explosion has ripped through Manhattan leaving more than a dozen people injured on Saturday night. The blast at 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue in Chelsea around 8.30pm is thought to have come from a dumpster and could have come from an explosive device. The Fire Department reported that there were at least 25 people injured in the blast, but their injuries don't appear life-threatening. It comes hours after a pipe bomb in a trashcan blew up near a fun-run for the military in New Jersey – but no one was injured.
