FINALLY. House Republicans in Talks to Reprimand Democrats for June’s Gun Control Temper Tantrum
Make this happen. This will be my feel-good story of the day.
Remember that annoying troll-fest that was thrown on the House floor by Democrats in June?
In an attempt to force a vote on gun control (and as it turned out later, to use as a campaign fundraising wedge), Democrats showed everyone how lacking in class they were by staging a “sit-in” on the House floor.
Well, it now seems that House Republicans may be preparing to deliver a response.
House Republicans are preparing to reprimand Democratic lawmakers for their controversial “sit-in” protest over gun control, sources told POLITICO.
The exact language is still in flux, and multiple sources said discussions are ongoing. But Speaker Paul Ryan’s office and other leadership staff have been researching ways they can punish Democrats for their controversial occupation of the House floor to protest the chamber’s lack of response to the Orlando, Florida shooting massacre.
GOP lawmakers are expected to discuss the matter next week upon returning from their summer recess. While no votes have been scheduled, some members have been given notice that the response could come to the floor in September.
Of some of the suggested responses, one is a resolution that would state that such actions shouldn’t be allowed and would be sanctioned in some way.
Weak. They already knew, but didn’t care.
There’s also a suggestion that certain Democrats be reprimanded for acting like thugs and intimidating non-partisan staffers.
But then, that’s what Democrats do. They bully and intimidate, all while claiming victimhood.
The Democratic organizers of the sit-in said the nation’s gun crisis warranted such a response. Their protest came on the heels of the killing of 50 people in Orlando at a gay nightclub.
Republicans say the Democrats’ actions endangered the institution by undermining rules that have governed the chamber for 250 years. Even senior Democrats privately expressed concern about potential long-term fallout, particularly if they’re eventually in the majority and Republicans resort to the same kind of tactics.
Had Republicans acted like such ruffians, Democrats would have already been off the block.
Majority leader Kevin McCarthy has mentioned in July that he was told about harassment of the nonpartisan staff, and how one, who was trying to bring order to the proceedings had something slapped from his hands. He and his staff have been investigating the incident.
It will be interesting to see what, if anything, House Republicans decide to do.

It’s about time that the 9 to 5 Republicans grew a backbone and did something… The want the Republicans ‘with balls’ in the judiciary committee do all the dirty work for them!
We all know how long this will last… they throw a little something out there to make it look like they are doing their job.. the ‘left-stream’ Media calls it ‘racist’.. they tuck tails and run!
