Commander: Yemeni Army, Popular Forces Win Back Center of Ta’iz

A senior Yemeni commander announced that the country’s army and popular forces have made remarkable advances against the pro-Saudi troops in the heart of Ta’iz province and recaptured strategic regions. “The Yemeni forces won full control over government buildings in the center of Ta’iz province,” Senior Ansarullah Commander Hossein al-Houthi said on Friday. He reiterated that the Yemeni army and popular forces inflicted heavy losses on the pro-Saudi forces in Central Yemen. “The Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters have killed at least 200 pro-Saudi forces and seized back 20 villages,” al-Houthi added.

On Wednesday, several high-profile Saudi commanders were killed in the Yemeni army’s massive attack on the Saudi border city of Najran and took control of a strategic military base there, a senior member of Ansarullah movement announced. “The Yemeni special forces targeted two Saudi army vehicles in the kingdom’s Najran province, killing three Saudi commanders,” senior Ansarullah commander Ali al-Hamzani told FNA. Al-Hamzani, meantime, said that the Yemeni forces took full control of key Nahuqa military base and laid siege to Najran city from different directions.

On Monday, the Yemeni army and popular committees launched a retaliatory artillery attack against a Saudi military base in the kingdom’s Southwestern province of Jizan, killing at least four soldiers. Yemeni forces fired artillery shells at the military base of Abadiyah in Jizan on Monday, killing four Saudi forces. Also on Monday, the Yemeni artillery shells hit the Saudi military base of Bahtit in the same province. The artillery attacks are carried out in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless airstrikes on the impoverished nation of Yemen. The kingdom’s warplanes on Monday pounded the district of Nihm, east of the capital, Sana’a, and Dhubab in the southwestern province of Ta’iz. Saudi fighter jets also bombed the districts of Baqim, Munabbih and Razih in the Northwestern province of Sa’ada.
