Donald Trump Isn’t Wrong to Question the Election Process

(Before It's News)

From the moment Donald Trump refused to say whether or not he’d accept the results of the November 8th election, the Democrats and the Media had their narrative. Donald Trump doesn’t trust the system! He hates democracy! Et cetera and so forth.

Except… what he said was he’d have to wait and see what happens on election day. And, if you’ll pardon the Devil’s Advocate argument here… shouldn’t we?

Look, we know that voter fraud is in fact a thing that happens. Does it happen on as grand a scale as Trump or his supporters are implying? No… unless, of course, you believe that an entire state was stolen in 2000. In which case, you have absolutely no right to claim Trump is being a whiny little brat now. Elections are run by man, and man is flawed.

I’m not saying Trump is in the right here. It’s one thing to hold the elections process accountable. It’s necessary, just as much as holding everything involved with or related to government is. We hold these things accountable so that we can keep the system from becoming flawed. It’s not that doing so is a result of thinking it’s happening all the time. It’s because it has worked, and it has worked well, and we want to keep it that way.

Trump is finally seeing in the polls what we see. He is possibly believing them now, and he’s not happy. So, instead of valid concerns over the electoral process, he is simply whining and shouting about the contest being rigged. That’s sort of his thing. And, that is actually a problem.

See, 90% of a presidential debate is about optics more than anything else. Looking good and sounding good is the most important thing. By refusing to say one way or another, by not answering the question in a satisfying way, he has opened himself up for this criticism. And, frankly, he deserves it. He’s unpolished and has no real sense of policy at all. He should be able to answer that with something a little better than “I’ll wait and see.” Hell, even a “If the process runs smoothly, then absolutely I’ll accept the results.”

But, the Media and the Democrats are also wrong to say that you always have to trust the results, because we know they can be tainted by fraud. Wanting to see the system run smoothly is a good thing.
