Gay For Trump Isn’t Happening

(Before It's News)

The whole “Gay for Trump” thing just isn’t happening, outside of a few homoerotic Twitter rants by people like Sean Hannity and Bill Mitchell.

Trump was billed as the most pro-LGBT GOP nominee ever, and even had PayPal co-founder, Peter Thiel speak at the GOP convention, specifically for the purpose of outreach to the gay community, and to assure them that the “culture wars,” that keep men out of women’s bathrooms, or religious freedom issues were a thing of the past, under President Trump.

Apparently, it didn’t take.

A new poll shows that the LGBT community are sticking with what they know and voting for Trump’s friend, Hillary, instead.

Among the voters, Clinton is up 72 percent to Trump’s 13 percent, according to Pew Research Center.

What’s more, gays and lesbians view Trump very coldly.

“Nearly nine-in-ten LGB voters (89%) rate the Republican presidential nominee coldly on a ‘feeling thermometer’ that ranges from 0 (the coldest, most negative rating) to 100 (the warmest, most positive score). About eight-in-ten (82%) rate Trump very coldly, including more than half (54%) who give him a score of 0. Just 9% of LGB voters rate Trump warmly,” said Pew.

In fact, 61% of LGBT citizens view Clinton “warmly,” with 36% who think she’s just awesome, and view her “very warmly.”

The Log Cabin Republicans recently called Trump “perhaps the most pro-LGBT presidential nominee in the history of the Republican Party.” However, they withheld their endorsement.

What does that tell you?

The love affair from the convention is apparently over.

That is, if it ever started.

The LGBT community are a special interest group, targeted by liberals and made useful tools. There is distrust there for the Republican party, which has, traditionally, stuck to more mainstream ideas about gender and family. The fact that Trump is in pretty much every aspect a liberal Democrat doesn’t change the “R” beside his name, for now.

Said Pew, “LGB voters’ Democratic leanings are also on par with recent years. About eight-in-ten LGB registered voters (82%) now identify with or lean to the Democratic Party, while 18% identify with or lean to the GOP. This party balance is similar to patterns seen in a 2013 Pew Research Center survey of LGBT adults in which 79% of LGBT adults identified or leaned Democratic and 18% identified or leaned Republican.”

And that’s a large deficit to overcome, no matter how many goodies you promise.
