Hillary Clinton Delivers Concession Speech, Urges Supporters to be Hopeful and Grateful for America
It is the morning after and America has a hangover. For some its the good kind, for others the bad. For Hillary Clinton and her supporters it must be very, very bad. Clinton refused to address her crowds of supporters after her concession in Tuesday’s elections, but Wednesday morning the Democrat candidate took the stage in New York City and gave what might have been her most emotional speech of the entire campaign.
Mrs. Clinton and President Clinton both wore purple, considered by many a symbol of both royalty and mourning. Tim Kaine introduced the former first lady, saying regardless of the outcome this campaign would remain the most memorable time in his life.
In her speech, Mrs. Clinton thanked her supporters and volunteers, telling them that serving with them has been a great honor.
A few quick highlights from her speech:
“This is painful and it will be for a long time.
We have seen our nation is more deeply divided than we thought but I still believe in America and always will and if you do then we must accept this victory and look to the future.
I hope [Trump] will be a successful president for all Americans.
This is painful and it will be for a long time
To Barrack and Michelle Obama – our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude. We thank you for your graceful, determined leadership
I will always be grateful to the creative, dedicated men and women at our headquarters across the country
To all the little girls watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your dreams.
I am so grateful for our country and for all it has given to me. I count my blessings every day that I am an American.
If we stand together with respect for our difference and love for this nation our best days are still ahead of us.”
After her speech Clinton left the stage with her husband to thank her supporters in the crowd.
