Obama Sets Conciliatory Tone to Ease Into a Trump Presidency

(Before It's News)

How amazing!

President Obama, someone I previously thought to be the most obnoxious, arrogant waste to win the White House, actually sounded magnanimous.

This has to be rough on President Divider, and as much as I dread the Trump years, I’m giggling at the thought of all the crow Obama and the Clinton Crime Family have been forced to feast on.

Everybody knows Trump is a clown.

He’s a birther, a con artist, serial philanderer, profaner and cheat, but he went into what were Obama strongholds in 2008 and 2012 and basically foreclosed on the property.

Obama invited Trump to the White House today, in order to begin the transition of power that finalizes in January 2017.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be an easy meeting,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said.

The look on both of their faces during their obligatory photo op assured that it was not.

In fact, they both looked tight-lipped and sullen.

Still, the out-going president tried to set the right tone on Wednesday, when he announced that he would be welcoming Trump to the White House.

The president recalled a video he recorded on election night, in which he reminded the country that “the sun would come up in the morning” no matter who won.

“That is one bit of prognosticating that actually came true,” he said. “The sun is up. And I know everybody had a long night. I did as well.

“But the day after, we have to remember that we’re actually all on one team.”

What’s more, he spoke of the differences between he and former President George W. Bush, who was once in the same position: transitioning power to an administration that would be very different than his own.

In doing so, he was quite gracious. I actually appreciate that through the haze of history and water under the bridge, this awful ideologue had words of decency to describe the professionalism of his predecessor.

Watch here.

This is exactly the right way to handle this.

Trump and the new Republican party will rise or fall, based on what he does, once in office, but in the meantime, Democrats do more to help themselves when they take the high road.
