(Before It's News)

Harsh.

Joe Scarborough, former Republican congressman and current MSNBC host is suggesting that ardent Trump loyalist, Rudy Giuliani, may be a poor fit for the job of Secretary of State, based on his lagging mental abilities.

On Monday’s “Morning Joe,” Scarborough explained:

“If you talk to anybody in New York City that knows Rudy Giuliani through the years, and I will just say this myself and not throw this to anybody else,” he said. “It’s one of these things that everybody says off camera. I’m going to tell it to you on camera, especially if this guy may still be considered as secretary of state. Even people close to Trump say Rudy Giuliani mentally is a few steps slower than he was several years ago. And everybody that knows the guy says he’s not up to the job as secretary of state.”

And it’s something that happens with age, in some instances. That’s just reality.

Still, there are other concerns.

Scarborough said it’s unclear if Trump, who Giuliani aggressively campaigned for, “doesn’t know Rudy Giuliani is not up to this position” and that “he’s not qualified for this position, he doesn’t know foreign policy and it would be a disastrous pick.”

Could Giuliani even pass the kind of scrutiny he would face to be appointed to any cabinet position?

Some suggest he could not, especially as more questionable information comes to light.

Reports last week showed that in recent years, the former mayor and presidential candidate was paid for speeches by foreign groups, one of which, according to the New York Times, “was considered a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department” until 2012.

We can assume at the time, he had no idea that he would be in consideration for a higher, more prominent role in government, but that’s no excuse, and it won’t help him, at this juncture.

As of now, we have no idea if the former mayor will even be called to a position. Any talk is just rumor.

Let’s take a wait-and-see approach, and pray Trump has good counsel, ready to advise him to pick who will be the best fit, rather than who will be most mindlessly adoring of him.
