Ukrainian officials say five soldiers were killed near the key industrial town of Avdiivka on Sunday, while two others died Monday morning near Donetsk. At least two pro Russia fighters also lost their lives in the latest uptick in fighting. Eastern Ukraine has seen some of the fiercest clashes between government troops and pro-Russia militias in recent months. The latest deaths come despite a ceasefire announced in December last year. Nearly 10,000 people have been killed since the start of the conflict in 2014.
