(Before It's News)

In the chronicles of “Old Dogs, New Tricks,” it would seem that the old adage of not being able to change old habits is alive and well.

In 2015, then-President Barack Obama commuted the sentence of Robert M. Gill, who had been in prison since 1990 for dealing heroin and cocaine.

According to the New York Post, Gill, 68, actually met with his parole officer shortly before meeting up with an accomplice in a grocery store parking lot where he purchased two pounds of cocaine.

Gill also triggered a dangerous high-speed chase when a sheriff’s deputy tried to stop him and he ultimately crashed into another vehicle.

Thanks, Obama.

Gill is being held without bail and faces up to 40 years in prison if he’s found guilty of ‘intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine’ he’s been charged with.

When President Obama commuted the sentences of Gill and others back in 2015 he said in his statement, “You have demonstrated the potential to turn your life around … Now it is up to you to make the most of this opportunity.”

Gill, unfortunately, did not make the best of his new chance at freedom.
