#LoveTakesAction Those Words Don’t Mean, What You Think They Mean, Huffington Post
Happy Valentine’s Day. I’m annoyed. I was watching my twitter feed when a tweet from the Huffington Post came through. It never ceases to amaze me that the people who are calling for blood in the streets see themselves as the embodiment of Love. Apparently Huff Post is doing a whole series on it, #LoveTakesAction

This tweet for all it’s faults, the black power fists were a nice touch, got me to hate click through, so in that way Huffington Post won. However, upon clicking through I realized they had put together a list full of ideas and examples of how to turn what they are calling “Love” into action.
These people don’t know what love is. Let’s start there. If rioting in the streets, burning down businesses and verbally assaulting women like Betsy DeVos in public is Love, let’s not stick around when they get to Hate. I mean does anyone even believe this nonsense anymore?
The actions of the Democrats over the last several months has been atrocious. Often we blame the “activist left” but we had sitting congressmen and women boycott the peaceful transfer of power at the inauguration. It’s mainstream now.
“Step off the sidelines and into the fight.”
We have celebrities cheering from their italian leather couches, as the protests have turned violent. They tweet their support from their gated communities, for those setting small businesses on fire. That is not love. It’s what happened atBerkeley.
“Create a small group that can engage in protest with you.”
What is it with these people and protests? They have on scheduled every weekend for eternity. Now Meet Up, the event planning app, is even offering to help you find other protest minded people in your area. There is money to be made from angry mobs and everyone seems to want to get in on that action.
“Be unapologetic about who [you] are.”
Be “Authentically True to Yourself”, they say. Tell that to the guy who just came out as a Conservative to his gay friends. Or to any Trump voter who has turned on a television for the last four months.
“When you’re tired … dust yourself off and get back in the fight.”
What I learned from this advice was that George Takei is hosting a show on the Japanese internment camps, which is a story that should be told. I just hope they don’t leave out the part about who built them. Also “keep fighting”. At this point I’d like to ask for clarification as to who they are “fighting” with exactly?
“It’s really important that all of us take care of ourselves.”
While I can agree that everyone needs to relax, maybe do some meditations and take care of themselves in what is clearly a stressful time for them. Having said that…since when do “Things To Do” lists include breaks? Take Action, then take a nap. It’s literally all about them, in a way that I can’t quite wrap my head around.
After creating a list of ways #LoveTakesAction that includes the word, “fight” twice, perhaps they need to be told “those words don’t mean what you think they mean”.
