Petition Started to Keep Animatronic Donald Trump Silent at Disney World
Å new petition, which currently has more than 9,000 signatures, at Change.org shows just how allergic leftists are to any thoughts or speech that do not conform to their own or come from someone they don’t like. Their petition asks that The Walt Disney Company keep its animatronic replica of President Donald Trump silent in Disney World’s Hall of Presidents in Orlando, FL.
The petition states,
Donald Trump ran a Presidential campaign on hateful speech, misogyny, racism and xenophobia. In doing so, he has tainted the legacy of the American Presidency forever. He is perhaps best known for how he uses his words sometimes carelessly, yet oftentimes with the specific intent of degrading, insulting and demeaning not only those who do not agree with him on any given topic, but entire groups of people including Mexicans, Muslims, women and the disabled.
Because no other presidents have ever said negative or terrible things about entire groups of people, or something. “The police acted stupidly,” or small town people are “bitter” and “cling to their guns or religion…” That was pretty divisive and bigoted language from Barack Obama, as well.
I’m not excusing anything Donald Trump has said or done. I didn’t vote for him or Hillary Clinton. My opinion of the man is pretty low because I do take into account those kinds of things when I assess a person’s character, but demanding a private company silence a president, who so many visiting Disney World probably voted for — along with those who didn’t — is ridiculous.
Disney may choose to silence animatronic Trump, but that risks alienating one portion of its customer base in favor of another. Where’s the inclusion for the Trump voter in that scenario?
That isn’t to say Disney World is on the hook to whitewash the man, but silencing him (figuratively) could be argued as worse than having his words follow him in effigy.
May I suggest instead that those who are so opposed to the president that they cannot even walk past a mechanical replica of the man avoid that area of the Hall of Presidents at Disney World for awhile. In this vast world, it’s about a 100 sq. ft. area they need to avoid. It sounds impossible but I promise, it’s doable.
To be fair, there is also a petition on the site demanding Disney release Season 4 of Girl Meets World, which my 8-year-old will likely be picketing over this weekend.
