Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Army Offensive in Damascus Countryside
The Syrian army attacked the terrorists in Damascus countryside, and inflicted heavy losses on them.
The terrorists sustained heavy losses in the Eastern outskirts of Damascus on Wednesday as the Syrian army won back an important part of Jobar.
The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.
Damascus
The Syrian Army soldiers engaged in an intense battle with the terrorists and liberated an important part of Jobar district in the Eastern outskirts of Damascus on Wednesday.
The army troops attacked terrorists’ strongholds in the Northwestern sector of the embattled Jobar and captured some 10 buildings in an advance which seemingly cements the siege of al-Qaboun and Barzeh districts.
In the meantime, the Syrian army warplanes destroyed terrorists’ operating room and communications system in the Jobar neighborhood.
The air force also bombed the militants’ positions in Bir al-Qassab East of the capital, killing a military commander of the terrorists called Adnan al-Khuli.
A military source in Eastern Ghouta reported that the army is advancing towards Tura River in Jobar and is spreading its control over 4 important building blocks that were used to be occupied by the terrorists, killing and injuring a number of the militants that were mostly from the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board).
Hama
The Syrian army soldiers, backed up by the country’s air force, warded off a heavy attack of Ahrar al-Sham terrorists in Hama province after inflicting a number of casualties on the militants, well-informed sources said.
The sources said that terrorists of Ahrar al-Sham began a new assault on army positions in the villages of Tal al-Malah, Al-Jabin and along the Mahardah-Suqaylabiyah road to break through the government forces’ positions.
They added that the terrorists fired several missiles on the Northern neighborhoods of the town of Mahardah and targeted the town of al-Suqaylabiyah North-East of Hama province with mortar rounds.
The sources went on to say that the army troops and aircraft pounded the positions of Ahrar al-Sham terrorists after they began their military assault codenamed Sada al-Sham.
The army and its allied forces with the support of country’s artillery and air force engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists in various areas in Hama countryside, near the newly liberated towns of Qamhana and Mahardah and managed to repel their offensive.
According to army reports, Ahrar al-Sham suffered major casualties in the attack.
Dara’a
The Syrian Army opened heavy rocket and artillery fire on the positions and concentration centers of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Dara’a al-Balad district in Dara’a city on Wednesday, destroying the terrorists’ command posts, local sources said.
The sources reported that terrorists groups’ rocket-launchers deployed in Dara’a al-Balad targeted residential areas in al-Sahari neighborhood that drew the army’s massive response.
They added that the army’s missile units targeted the positions of Al-Nusra in Tariq al-Saad (road to dam) in the Southern part of Dara’a city in response to the terrorists’ attack, destroying the terrorists’ command posts and killing or wounding all the militants in those positions.
Elsewhere in the city, the army destroyed a tank of the terrorists with anti- tank missiles East of the mosque in al-Manshiyeh neighborhood in Dara’a al-Balad. Battlefield reports said three tank crews were wounded in the attack.
Deir Ezzur
The Syrian Army troops struck ISIL’s positions and gathering centers near the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur, destroying the terrorists’ command post and military hardware.
A unit of the army engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and destroyed a command post and two tanks near the regiment 137th region near the town of al-Jeneina.
In the meantime, the army soldiers clashed with ISIL in a power company near al-Taim oilfield South of Deir Ezzur, destroying two ISIL military vehicles and killing all the terrorists on board.
Aleppo
Syrian Army troops continued to hit hard ISIL’s positions in the Eastern territories of Aleppo province and managed to seize back two more villages, military sources said Wednesday.
The sources said that following the liberation of two villages along the Aleppo-Raqqa highway on Tuesday, the army’s seasoned Tiger Forces capitalized on their momentum by taking control of two additional villages.
They went on to say that with army tanks on the roll along the strategic M4 highway en route to Jirah Airbase, government forces seized full control over the villages of Al-Mashrafah and Qaysumah along with the Tal (hill) Mahdum on Tuesday evening.
Notably, the army has now entered the Maskanah Plains and surrounded Jirah Airbase from three flanks. The airport has not been under the army troops’ control since February, 2013.
