Spicer: ‘If the President Puts Russian Salad Dressing on His Salad Tonight, Somehow That’s a Russian Connection’
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer clashed with April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks during Tuesday’s White House press briefing when Ryan asked about connections to Russia.
Ryan began her question to Spicer by detailing a handful of serious issues the White House is currently dealing with, specifically in regards to the investigation into Russian election interference.
Ryan added, “you’ve got Russia,” just before Spicer cut her off.
“I get it, but I’ve said it from the day that I got here until whatever, that there is no connection. You’ve got Russia. If the president puts Russian salad dressing on his salad tonight, somehow that’s a Russian connection,” Spicer charged.
“At some point, April, you’re going to have to take ‘no’ for an answer with respect to whether or not there was collusion,” Spicer said.
After Ryan repeatedly pushed back on Spicer’s claims that there isn’t any “Russian connection,” he encouraged Ryan of trying to listen to the facts when viewing the White House’s credibility.
“It seems like you’re hell-bent on trying to make sure whatever image you want to tell about this White House stays,” he said.
As the exchange continued, Ryan repeatedly shook her head in disagreement with Spicer’s comments.
“I’m sorry, please stop shaking your head again,” Spicer said.
