WAPO Forgets to Mention Man Arrested for Impersonating ICE Officer Works for Them
In the case of wild “I forgot to mention,” The Washington Post issued a report regarding a man who was arrested for impersonating a police officer:
Montgomery County police have arrested and charged a man they say impersonated a police officer.
Police say 35-year-old Itai Ozderman is also facing gun charges.
Police say detectives learned in February that Ozderman had been impersonating an officer and obtained a search warrant for his home. Police say when they searched it they found seven handguns, two assault rifles and a shotgun, as well as body armor, tactical vests, ammunition and a Baltimore County Police Department badge. Police say Ozderman was never employed by that department.
He has been charged with impersonating a police officer and transporting a handgun in a vehicle. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
Pretty cut and dry, except for that whole part that Itai Ozderman is one of the Washington Post’s employees.
WJLA picks up where WAPO left off:
Court records and law enforcement sources confirm Ozderman has worked as an I.T. engineer at The Washington Post for around two years.
“All we have to share is that we are aware of the story and looking into it,” The Washington Post Director of Communications Shani George wrote in an email to ABC7 News on Monday.
After ABC7 News broke the story Monday, The Washington Post did publish an article online about Ozderman’s arrest.
So in other words, it took WAPO being called out for ignoring news in order for them to report on a story, and then they just conveniently forget to mention that the dude who is the subject of their article is one of their employees.
Good job WAPO! Next time, try a bit of journalism.
