Have you thought about building a panic or safe room. Above in the photo is an ideal panic or safe room. It needs to be a room where you can survive from 3 days to a month or two in case of the room above in the photo. Its very important to have water or a water source you can get water from even if the electricity is out. Remember what do you do if the electricity was to go off and not come back on. Do you have a emergency plan and emergency supplies for your family to survive.
Your safe room or panic room ideally should be stocked with food, water, and supplies to give your family and you a chance in case everything goes all to hell tomorrow. The room in the photo above has cots for sleeping, a table for eating and shelfs full of food in case you and your family need to survive for a while. Notice that big bottle of water there in the photo.
If you have a panic or safe room prepared like the one in the photo above you can survive. Your panic or safe room should have a door that is almost impossible to get through and ideally a door that you can protect if someone is outside the door trying to come through the door. You need to be armed and you must be willing to defend you, your family, and your supplies.
