The private detective service has responded to recent research which has revealed that high levels of testosterone makes men more trustworthy.

(PRWEB UK) 20 October 2012

Testosterone, the male hormone which boosts libido and builds muscle, has emerged as a factor in the trustworthiness of men. Recent research has shown that men with high or boosted levels of testosterone were less likely to lie and cheat than those with lower testosterone levels.

The study was headed by neuroscientist Professor Bernd Weber, from the University of Bonn in Germany. In a double blind study of 91 men, scientists boosted levels of testosterone in 46 men by smearing their skin with gel containing the hormone. The remaining 45 men were smeared with a dummy placebo gel that lacked any of the hormone.

Both the groups took part in a behavioural study which involved a game of dice in an isolated booth, in which they had to input their scores into a computer. The higher the score, the more money they would receive as a reward. The test was designed so subjects were able to lie without anybody knowing until scientists could later determine who was dishonest.

As the research was double blind, neither the scientists nor participants were aware who had the testosterone boost, until a later blood test. The end results showed that men with boosted testosterone lied less.

The private detectives at Private Investigators Cambridge are often asked to conduct lie detector tests, and are intrigued by the research.

A spokesperson from Private Investigators Cambridge said:

“This research has produced some interesting results, which will likely be a talking point among many. Research into lying is of interest to us as we often conduct polygraph tests with our highly qualified polygraph examiners. It is estimated that the accuracy of polygraph results is in the range of 95 - 98 % and it is a vital tool in finding out the truth and giving people peace of mind.”

Private Investigators Cambridge along with their sister company Private Investigator Norwich are a team of highly trained professional and discreet private investigators and detectives with over 35 years experience in the industry. Their understanding and approachable team of male and female detectives are available 24/7 to conduct matrimonial, corporate and private investigations.
