Kim Ellis is a scientist with extensive experience in mining research and development. Her specialty is in pilot plant process optimization, experimental design and analytical method development for mineral processing systems. As a co-author of the research project, ASTRA Asteroid Mining Technologies, Roadmap and Applications and additional skills in space science, mission design and technical legal systems, Kim is well placed as an authority on Space and terrestrial Mining systems and mineral processing in space.

Earth Space Technology provides a range of consultancy services to business including multimedia science and technology presentation services, new and future concept development and technical consultancy services. In 2011, Kim served as a space industry group representative to develop Future Space Concepts for the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation. Along with new concept development, Earth Space Technology is currently developing an innovation application tool to facilitate the identification of intellectual property which can generate additional income opportunities for technology based businesses.

The presentation on innovation for space business will be delivered at the Off Earth Mining Conference at the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research in February 2013. Technical workshops on Commercial Space Mining will be presented in Brazil in July 2013 as part of the curriculum of the International Space University Space Studies program. The workshops include the legal, technical, environmental and social aspects of commercial space mining and will involve hand on activities demonstrating mineral processing in space.
