38th annual toy show returns to Indy, keeping family at the forefront

Indianapolis, Ind. (MMD Newswire) February 26, 2016 — When collectors and farm toy dealers gather for the 38th Annual Lafayette Farm Toy Show at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport, Indianapolis, one thing is clear: Family is important. This year will have all the regulars, from dealers to contests; however, based on the success of a special event last year, there will again be a benefit auction for a child in need.

“We had such a great success with the benefit auction for a young boy fighting cancer last year that we are holding another auction this year for a second child. This year’s benefit auction will help provide funds for Mason Renfrow, a five year old, from Danville, Illinois, who was born with Cerebral Palsy. The proceeds of the auction’s items will help his family with Mason’s SDR surgery expenses. You can find more information about this procedure on Facebook under “Join Mason’s SDR Marathon,” said Alan Chesnut, the Show’s owner.

The Show, which runs from Friday, March 4, through Sunday, March 6, will feature the Benefit Auction for Mason at the Show. “Bids will be taken on items from Friday night until Saturday at 4 pm. Items can be viewed on the “Toy Truck Mafia” Facebook page,” explained DJ Harrison, a member of the Toy Truck Mafia group, and one of the organizers of the auction. Members from this group have built and donated the items for the auction.

As the Lafayette Farm Toy Show is the second-oldest hotel farm toy show in the United States, it has seen that families have always been important in the toy business. More than 70 toy dealers, many multi-generational teams, will set up toys for sale and displays in their hotel rooms or large banquet rooms. Again this year, there will be both workshops and Model and Display contests for contestants of all ages. Model trains and a silent auction will also be part of the Show. With activities for young and old, it truly is a family affair.
