With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Deborah Coleman-Givens, RN,MSN, CNS, CCRN, DNP(c) joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. She is a distinguished Registered Nurse with thirty-five years of uniquely diversified experience in the nursing arena and a vast expertise in areas such as critical care and nursing management. Deborah attends to patients as Nurse Manager of the Intensive Care and Critical Care Unit at Methodist Health System in Merrillville, Indiana. There, she works with a diverse staff in a 16-bed unit and is responsible for organizing and implementing changes to complement the unit and staff, creating a vision to improve patient care, as well as encouraging advanced education.
Deborah acquired her bachelor degree of science in nursing from Northern Illinois University in 1980. An advocate of continuing education, she received her master degree of science in nursing and doctorate of nursing practice with Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration at Governors State University in 2015. Deborah is a Certified Critical Care Nurse (CNS), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). She is also an active member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing. Deborah credits her success to her mentors, God, not being afraid of hard work, and having faith in herself. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling and jogging.
