(Before It's News)

Ocala, FL – Princess Anne, a highly historical glass bottom boat from the 1930s featured in famous movies and previously utilized as a tour boat, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering backing and support to refurbish, repair, and revamp the boat back into a functioning tour boat. Championed by USCG Captain Paul, the Captain is seeking funds for the multitude of structural repairs, repainting, licensing, and lifting Princess Anne.

“This boat hasn’t been in the water for nearly 60 years, and neglect has taken its toll,” said USCG Capt. Paul. “I want to restore Princess Anne to her original glory so visitors near and far to Ocala have the opportunity to experience all of the history she embodies.”

Restoration will begin with a structural survey and all areas addressed will be replaced and/or repaired to USCG requirements. When the structural and safety repairs are complete the boat will be repainted to its original colors. The expenses are steep considering storage fees, insurance, licensing, surveys, repairs, propulsion, crane lifts, trailer, safety items and more.

USCG Capt. Paul’s goal is to have Princess Anne back on the water by the end of 2016.

“My goal can become a reality with generous Kickstarter backing from contributors with an interest in history, boating, and community building,” said Paul. “Princess Anne is a living piece of history, and restoring her to original form will be a priceless experience for visitors and tour boat passengers.”

Backers on Kickstarter will receive a free token coin good for one adult admission boat ride once Princess Anne is back on the water.

The only known boat remaining from circa the 1930s, Princess Anne’s restoration is not something that can be assigned a price tag.
