Lev 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.
When I speak of the feasts I can actually speak fondly, and indeed do look forward to them. As we near the fall feasts, it is a time to remember the L_RD God and his Word. It is time to fully take into consideration the whole counsel of our Lord here. It is a time to think of renewal, rebirth, forgiveness, and a God who will indeed bless and keep his people. As our Lord said, “Except ye abide in me…you can do nothing.”
It is enough for me that our Lord and Savior Yeshua ha Massiach [Jesus Christ] kept the feasts. It is enough for me that the apostles kept the feasts. In addition it is enough that the early church kept the feasts. But I keep the feasts because; the Word of God commands it. As the beginning of this newsletter states, the command is given in Lev 23:24 and again in Num 29:1. But when I read John chapter fifteen, it says “as the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue in my love. If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I kept my Fathers commandments and abide in his love.” It is here where duty passes on to faith and obedience. I keep the faith, and love the Father and the Son. As I do so, the faith and obedience says, I will keep your commandments or instructions. Not to remain saved, not to maintain salvation, but because I love the Lord.
The keeping of the feasts have nothing to do with the having to do this or that. I do this simply because I believe, follow, and enjoy the feasts. It is the whole counsel of God and as such I keep it. Although the church since the time of Constantine have changed the feasts into a more gentile state of mind and have left off the true nature of the feasts commanded by the L_RD himself; I have found that buried in history and nations is the fact that the feasts are as relevant today as they ever were.
