“St Francis of Assisi was a saint known to care very much for the helpless.” Actually he cared for animals specifically. He was famous for allowing animals into church. There is no obvious connection between him and Peter the Roman.

Not very convincing. I don’t think it means Francis Xavier from the Jesuit order. Peter the Roman could be connected to St Francis of Assisi. His birth name was Francesco di Pietro. Furthermore, the pope’s both parents emigrated from Italy so it may be that he is only Argentinian by birth but of Italian ancestry. But still, I don’t see the connection. Only time will tell.
