HAVE WE LOST OUR MINDS?? Should Animals Be Considered People? Who’s paying its legal fees???
In a nation where corporations are people and others want fetuses to be, a core of philosophers and attorneys are trying develop laws to declare animals “legal persons.” Animal protection lawyer Steven Wise wants nothing short of a legal revolution. He wants to win common law rights for creatures he believes suffer, feel fear, have complex emotions and levels of intelligence.
Wise had found his calling. His grand ambition is for nothing short of a legal revolution. He wants to systematically overturn more than 2,000 years of law by winning basic common law rights for other sentient beings we now know suffer, feel fear, have complex emotions, and possess sometimes startling levels of intelligence. Welfare laws notwithstanding, unless they are “legal persons,” to Wise they have no rights at all in the eyes of the law and therefore their lives don’t count.
HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT THE WHALES HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN OUR UNBORN BABIES??
Wise believes animals should have rights to bodily liberty and bodily integrity — you can’t be touched without your consent, or, criminals aside, be physically confined. Many who share Wise’s reverence for animals consider his goals unrealistic, undesirable, or both. Can you imagine unconfined animals roaming the streets? Your neighborhood? It would become a whole new type of street gang or terrorists.
The animals would rule over us evntually! Especially with the pack-mentality species, which are several!
I also can’t help but wonder, just who, or what is influencing people to even consider this sort of insanity. Imagine your neighbors constantly-barking weiner dog taking you to court because you aggrevated it by telling it to “shut up for once!”
And wouldn’t this sort of thing absolutely open the door to animal-possession by alien or demonic spirits?
