THE OLDEST LESSON IN THE WORLD

or

THE LESSON OF THE BOOK OF JOB

as seen in

The End of The Lord

by E.W. Bullinger D.D.

Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of The Lord, that The Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

James 5:11

We have all “heard of the patience of Job.” But, the great and important question is this, Have we “seen the end” Which The Lord had in view in all His dealings with Job? The “end” which He brought about in His own perfect way?

The object and purpose of the book are one. Whatever is said and done, whoever speaks or acts; all has reference to one person; and all is designed to bring about one “end.”

It is a long book. It consists of forty-two chapters, relating to various events, and different agencies; all brought to bear upon one person, and all directed to one “end”—”the end of The Lord.”

We see Heaven, and Earth, and Hell, Jehovah and Satan; the Chaldeans, and Sabeans, fire from heaven, and wind from the wilderness; Job’s friends, his wife, and children, all engaged and employed in order to secure one “end.”

Ancient it is beyond all dispute. It probably belongs to the period covered by the book of Genesis; and, possibly, to the time of Abraham.* Its lesson, therefore, 1s the oldest lesson we could have, and it takes us back to the first lesson taught in The Bible itself.

In Gen. i. and ii. we have the creation of man. In Gen. iii. we have the fall of man, and the chapter ends with the statement that man was driven out from the Garden of Eden in judgment (iii. 24). Then, in Gen. iv., what have we but the way back again to God, in grace? God’s way, which Abel took, and man’s way, which Cain invented.

This, therefore, is the oldest lesson in the world. It is the first great lesson which stands in the forefront of revelation, and the lesson of the book of Job follows this up and expands it by answering the solemn question, “How should man be just with God?”

E W Bullinger
This is not only the oldest lesson, but it is the most important lesson that it is possible for us to learn. If we know NOT this lesson, it matters NOT what else we may know. Our knowledge may be vast, extensive, and deep on all other subjects; but it will not carry us beyond the grave. But the KNOWledge of this lesson will serve us for eternity, and secure our eternal blessing and happiness.
If we KNOW this lesson, it matters little what else we do Not know.
E..W. Bullinger D.D.

Do you see the Power of humility?
(Christ humbled himself becoming obedient unto death, even to the death of the cross, the tree, the stake. For which cause, God also hath exalted him …)

Meekness
“A complete surrender of your will to God’s Will !”

(How many see this? How many will do this???)

GOD IS GREATER THAN MAN,
GREATER than we can know.
Elihu

God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:6

Selfishness, Arrogance & Pride … Existed before Eden! Lucifer was FULL of HIMSELF when he DECIDED he wanted to be as The Most High.

Meekness ,,, Humility is the lesson.
ALL are Under The Creator!

With Probing questions Jehovah shows Job His greatness,  causing Job to humbly “bow” before His Throne & shut his mouth, accepting His superiority.
The “end of the Lord” was Jobs deliverance from Lucifer’s “ye shall be as gods”

The fear-reverence of the Lord is the “beginning of knowledge”

GOD

God Himself turned the Captivity of Job into His Deliverance of Job!

The Almighty has Your “end in view” in ALL His dealings with You!!!

Which He will bring about in His own Perfect Way !!!

Christ humbled himself becoming obedient …

Christ’s humility “raised the standard” for Love higher than any other time in history!

The Almighty Commands His Right men in Ephesians 5 to Love their Right women as Christ Loved the Ekklesia (his Right woman) & gave himself  for her that he Hagiazo, deliver, purify her by Loutron, bathing her in his Love!

Being humble is a Command … the lesson of Job, the Oldest  Lesson in the World is now a Command of the Most high!

WithOut humility, WithOut meekness, WithOut obedience you just won’t get very far with God.

“Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of The Lord, that The Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

Sure, by making a bet with Satan that he couldn’t break Job. Satan killed his wife, his kids, his livestock etc. If you think that is tender mercy you are one slice short of a loaf.

    • But it’s OK Pix because he got everything back, wife, kids etc, at the end. Of course they weren’t the same people but to the sheep who believe in the bible that is just a minor detail

      • Waaake up …
Listen to Job in “the end of the Lord” in his life instead of the devils whisper “ye shall be as god’s”

The Almighty Blessed Job’s latter day’s as magnificently as He coloured the glory of the pheasant. His daughters were the glory in the Land … far more than his early day’s.
God’s glory showed up … Why? … Humility ~ Meekness “covered” Job
The Power of humility increases capacity in the human core.
It’s a funny thing. That’s what makes you strong.

        There’s Power in being humble.
Christ bowed and washed 24 mens feet, that’s 12 foot washings after supper … before he died for them. Humbleness and Love “covered” Christ as he endured the suffering from the horrid torture & abuse of absolute hate.

He died rejected by the very ones he Loved.
Look who supported him at his death, crucifixion? Notice who they are!!!
All women only one man John, Mr Compassion. All other men forsook him.
These were strong, loving and fearless women. They shinned. Mary Magdalene, what a woman she was, probobly his best student.

And Christ’s Mom, there’s nothin on earth like a Mother’s heart for her child!!! Nothin!!!

There is just something about women that is so sensitive to suffering and seeming weakness that causes them to rise to the occasion.

Christ rose in glory … victorious over the darkness of death, after 3 days & 3 nights.
Deliverence, reconciliation, fulfillment and numarous etc ‘s … Provided by Christ.

WithOut “being humble” true deliverence and true fulfillment does not completely come.

  • Pix, your a new shade of blue.

If you Love somebody then that means you need somebody,
If you need somebody well that’s what makes you weak,
But … if you know your weak and you know you need someone,
It’s a funny thing but … that’s what makes you strong.
    That’s what gives you power,
That’s what lets the meek come & sit beside the King.
That’s what let’s us smile in our final hour.
    That’s what moves our souls,

    That’s what makes us sing
Humilty moves the soul to its core.
    It’s a funny thing,
That’s what makes you strong, that’s what gives you power.

Enforced humility produces genuine humility whithin.

WithOut “humility” deliverence does not occur.

It is God Almigjty who designed the magnificent beauty in the colouring of pheasants.
Have you seen one upclose, strutting it’s stuff? it’s beauty is stunning, it will shut your mouth. It will shift your focus to the Creator, all is under Him.

    It’s a funny thing …

Humility is knowing who deserves all the glory.

  • Natsal

The point you made in your article, an excellent article to be sure: God’s WAY works and man’s does not – will not be understood. Man naturally hates the WAY of God.

The old story of continually trying to drive a round peg into a square hole is the story of man. Pix is a wonderful example of that story of refusing to understanding the purpose of God. We are not on earth to have a good time or to see who can amass the most toys but to learn, and sadly the hard way, that man living the way of licentiousness only leads to misery and death.

You chose Job, a great example of self righteousness, to show how God allows men and Satan to bring His Chosen Saints to eternal life.

PIX, who hates all things of God, will soon enough reach the end of his life with out one thought as to why he even existed. PIX was born, he played, he ate, he drank, he chased women?, he told everyone he could that he hates God, he will grow old and then he will just died and returned to dirt.

Job on the other hand accepted correction and instruction from God and will be in the first resurrection, his children and wife, who in all likelihood were not following the Way of God will be given their opportunity for salvation in the 2nd resurrection. They will know first hand the way they followed did not work out well and will hopefully accept the Way of God early.

    Great job Natsal!

    • Truthseeker, thank you for your words

      Licentiousness

What a deceitful, subtle thing licentiousness is!!
It makes you think you are free … when you are in bondage. It is a device of the Devil, whereby he deceives folks into thinking they are really free, when in fact – they are locked up by their own indulgence and vice, and doomed to punishment in the absence of repentance.

In the King James the word is LASCIVIOUSNESS. W.E. Vines — “denotes excesses, licentiousness, absence of restraint, indecency, wantonness,” (Vol. II, p.#310).

THAYER’S GREEK-ENGLISH LEXICON goes into much detail to define the Greek word: “Unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantonness, outrageousness, shamelessness, insolence…”In his discussion of the use of this word in the N.T., Thayer adds this: “Indecent bodily movements, unchaste handling of males and females.”
Interesting word isn’t it? A WORK OF THE FLESH: licentiousness, or lasciviousness. It’s really an attitude; a rebellious, sinful attitude.

And, in regard to it — the Bible says: It begins in the heart (Mrk. 7:21,22). If persisted in, it will sear or defile the conscience (Eph. 4:19).

John 2:15-17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

If you love the world, then God’s love is not in you!
      What is in the world?
Read that again ALL that is in the world is:
      1. The lust of the flesh!
      2. The lust of the eyes!
      3. PRIDE!
