As World Watches: Assyrian Christians and others Face Terrible Conditions in Camps; but help is not assured anytime soon. In this story I refer to Assyrian Christians, but in their own words; we are ‘Assyrians’, they have a 4500 year past in the region. Everything they have had or built, not to mention their own bloodlines which go back decades is gone. There are Christians, Yazidis, and other minorities in trouble from the ISIS onslaught. While we have seen some American Ministries like Franklin Grahams become involved in that part of the world; a majority of American Churches and mega Pastors seem quiet. That is, we do not see them posting big ads in the Wall street journal calling on the world to help those in the war torn areas of Libya, Iraq, and Syria. I might add, wars that America had part in. Wars that were called into question by our support for removing Qaddafi of Libya, Assad of Syria, and Saddam of Iraq. Now we know these leaders were brutal at times, maybe more than that; but under these leaders for the most part Christians were able to have churches, gather together, and be safe. Today after all our help in these nations, Christians are brutalized, raped, murdered, beheaded, and are homeless. In the Mosul area all Christians are gone! In many areas where ISIS went, churches were torn down and crosses removed; while some were used as Mosques.
Now while the whole of the blame does not lie squarely on American shoulders, our own policies and gun running to various Islamic groups should awaken the American people. They should be awakened to the ineptitude of our policies. Now while the slam and jam bombing of the coalition planes that Pres. Obama formed did save the Kurds at Kobani and surrounding regions, the real truth lie in the fact ISIS is not destroyed and the aftermath of the Syrian onslaught and ISIS campaign into Iraq left thousands upon thousands homeless.

Now according to the Syrian International News agency an outbreak of “Chicken pox, Lice, and Scabies” has started in the Assyrian Camps in Arbel. Living in open air multi-story building the 1,800 refugees who live there are only part of the more than 200,000 Assyrians on a whole that were driven from their homes, churches, and villages on the Nineveh Plains. There is a shortage of water, sanitation, bathroom, food, and other items needed to fully support such a community.
There a severe water shortage. Six tankers of water, each bringing at least 12,000 liters of water, are purchased daily. $200 per day is spent on the generator for the building.
There is also a critical shortage of bathrooms, with most floors having only 2 or 3.
According to officials from the Syriac Catholic Church, who are managing the building, very little help is arriving. The central government initially paid one million dinars ($1000) per family, but no additional help has been received since. The Kurdish regional government made a one time donation of clothes and toys…AINA
Now the problem is while Christians in America, Canada, and other Westernized nations live comfortably and well fed in heated or air conditioning; their brothers and sisters are living in places that are barely suitable for their needs. Now while I speak to the issue of Christians helping their brethren; Christian, I also remind the world and the churches that Yazidis and other nationalities in all three countries mentioned above are also facing tough times as refugees. This is just in the middle east, then you have Nigeria and Boko Haram and in Sudan and other areas in Africa where ISIS related groups are doing the same thing and people are driven from their villages or they die.
It is not that there are too many refugees or the problem is too big. The problem is the silence from the Mega Pastors and other Christian denominations who should be speaking up right now!
I urge these mega churches and all churches; sell all your golden crosses, comfy pews, and other related items you don’t need! Sell that big church make do with less and give to the poor. Your kingdom is not that big fancy church and all that staff making big bucks. Your kingdom is the Lord’s Kingdom; but are your building your kingdom here on earth? Awaken!
We need to make the issue of the troubled refugees and their plight in the Middle east an important item on America and other nations lists.
These people need help! The UN is and has been poorly equipped to handle! Their history of such aid and the UN’s own past in making sure aid, supplies, and help properly arrives at the correct place; not to mention security is in question.
Today I particularly point at and scream at today’s Christians and churches in America! Wake up! These people need help and God forbid if anything like that should happen in America what would happen to you.
Would the world hear the screams of Christians in America wanting help when the world knew these same people did not lift a finger to help their brethren when they needed help?
There are groups helping in these areas, some American; but it is far inadequate!
