There are Shamans and then there are Sham-ans claiming to be Shamans. The Sham-ans eg, tell people to have sex with virgins to cure their AIDS, and the fact there are no virgins left so they are raping babies, seems to have missed your attention.
By all means enjoy the experience and spectacle of a Shaman, but be aware that for every genuinely wise Shaman there are thousands who are not.
