Earthquakes are on the rise like never before, and many people are oblivious to the fact of how serious this really is.  From Michael Snyder, End of the American Dream:

First it was wildfires, then it was unprecedented flooding, and now it is earthquakes.  In the past two weeks alone, more than 400 earthquakes have shaken San Ramon – a small city that sits approximately 45 miles east of San Francisco.  Never before have so many earthquakes been recorded in that area in such a short span of time.  Standing alone, that earthquake swarm may not mean that much.  But when you stand back and look at all of the unusual events that have been happening since late September, a very disturbing picture begins to emerge.

But first, let’s talk about this earthquake swarm.  All over the planet, seismic activity seems to be increasing.  According toVolcano Discovery, dozens of volcanoes around the world have recently erupted, and Afghanistan was just hit by a massive 7.5-magnitude quake.  It was one of the worst earthquakes that Afghanistan has ever seen, and it is going to take months to deal with all of the damage.  So that is why it is so alarming that right now there is record breaking earthquake activity just outside of San Francisco…

See this recent news excerpt:

San Ramon, California, appears to have broken a new earthquake record over the last two weeks: A total of 408 small quakes have shaken the East Bay city, almost four times the record set in 2003 in half the amount of time. “I’ve not felt so many tremors in decades,” Mark Stone said outside a San Ramon Starbucks on Tuesday morning. “My dog, Gimmel, she’s the first one to know a couple of seconds before.” And his dog has been extra alert lately.

But I do not think California or the San Andreas fault is necessarily the problem. I believe the problem is larger and much more devastating.  I believe we should be watching the Pacific Northwest Seismic Zone, and that this Seismic Zone will be the one to awake the other fault lines, such as San Andreas and the New Madrid.

Seattle, Portland and Vancouver are at risk of being hit by a megaquake, scientists have warned. Researchers believe a killer quake along Cascadi –  a fault line which runs from Cape Mendocino, California, to Vancouver Island – is 72 years overdue.

The ‘Big One’ will hit when Juan de Fuca, a 700-mile chunk of the Pacific Ocean, slides under Canada and America. Now, scientists have a better idea of how this will happen after creating the first ever detailed map of the mantle under the tectonic plate.

In relation to the above map they posted, the article goes on to say:

The map shows the movement of the famous Juan de Fuca plate is connected to the flow of the mantle 100 miles (150 km) underground. ’This is the first time we’ve been able to map out the flow of mantle across an entire plate, so as to understand plate tectonics on a grand scale,’ said Richard Allen, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.

The major surprise, Allen said, is that the mantle beneath a small piece of the Juan de Fuca plate is moving differently from the rest of the plate, creating a divide in the subduction zone. A similar pattern is seen in Pacific Northwest megaquakes, which don’t always break along the entire 600 miles (1,000-kilometer) length, producing magnitude 9 or greater events. The Juan de Fuca plate offshore of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia is small – about the size of California. It is around 40 miles (70km) thick but ‘big enough to generate magnitude 9 earthquakes’ as it’s placed under the continental North American plate, Allen said.

Alarming New Information-USA About To Shake and Bake-Experts Warning To Prepare!

Currently, the  Pacific Northwest Seismic Zone is locked up, and has been for years now, constantly building up more and more pressure until it violently breaks free. Take a look at this excerpt from Indian Country Media Network published in December of last year:

Cascadia’s Locked Fault Means Massive Earthquake Is Due in Pacific Northwest: Seismologists

The Cascadia fault in the Pacific Northwest is locked up, meaning that a massive megathrust earthquake could occur at any time, seismologists are warning. “It’s impossible to know exactly when the next Cascadia earthquake will occur,” said Evelyn Roeloffs of the U.S. Geological Survey, speaking last year on the 313th anniversary of a massive quake that hit in 1700—the last major one in the region. “We can’t be sure that it won’t be tomorrow, and we shouldn’t make the mistake of assuming we have decades to prepare.”

The tectonic plates normally glide and rub against each other, but periodically they become wedged together. When the fault quits sliding and becomes “locked” in place, it builds energy until it finally ruptures, relieving hundreds or thousands of years of stored-up stress in seconds, Roeloff said. Now, earthquake scientists from Canada and the U.S. who monitor seismic activity along the Cascadia coast have concluded that the dangerous fault line is fully locked, which carries serious implications for an earthquake in the Pacific Northwest.

“What is extraordinary is that all of Cascadia is quiet,” University of Oregon geophysics professor Doug Toomey told theAssociated Press earlier this month. Research on the Cascadia Subduction Zone in 2012 and 2013 led researchers to similar conclusions. A big unknown, Toomey told AP, is how much strain has accumulated since the plate boundary seized up, and how much more strain can build up before the fault rips and unleashes a possible magnitude 9.0 megaquake and tsunami. ”If there were low levels of offshore seismicity, then we could say some strain is being released by the smaller events,” Toomey told AP. “If it is completely locked, it means it is increasingly storing energy, and that has to be released at some point.”

And Doug Toomey adds that he is very concerned and the importance of being prepared:

Toomey said he is “very concerned” and said it is imperative that people in the Northwest continue to prepare for a big earthquake.

How Big Is A 9.0 Earthquake?

Still not enough? Take a look at an excerpt from the New Yorker titled, “The Really Big One,” posted in July of this year.  In fact, this particular article caused quite a buzz on the internet when it was first published:

The first sign that the Cascadia earthquake has begun will be a compressional wave, radiating outward from the fault line. Compressional waves are fast-moving, high-frequency waves, audible to dogs and certain other animals but experienced by humans only as a sudden jolt. They are not very harmful, but they are potentially very useful, since they travel fast enough to be detected by sensors thirty to ninety seconds ahead of other seismic waves. That is enough time for earthquake early-warning systems, such as those in use throughout Japan, to automatically perform a variety of lifesaving functions: shutting down railways and power plants, opening elevators and firehouse doors, alerting hospitals to halt surgeries, and triggering alarms so that the general public can take cover. The Pacific Northwest has no early-warning system. When the Cascadia earthquake begins, there will be, instead, a cacophony of barking dogs and a long, suspended, what-was-that moment before the surface waves arrive. Surface waves are slower, lower-frequency waves that move the ground both up and down and side to side: the shaking, starting in earnest.

The article continues with a summary of what exactly would happen, step-by-step, if this subduction zone suddenly became active.  Later, the author of this article adds:

This problem is bidirectional. The Cascadia subduction zone remained hidden from us for so long because we could not see deep enough into the past. It poses a danger to us today because we have not thought deeply enough about the future. That is no longer a problem of information; we now understand very well what the Cascadia fault line will someday do. Nor is it a problem of imagination. If you are so inclined, you can watch an earthquake destroy much of the West Coast this summer in Brad Peyton’s “San Andreas,” while, in neighboring theatres, the world threatens to succumb to Armageddon by other means: viruses, robots, resource scarcity, zombies, aliens, plague. As those movies attest, we excel at imagining future scenarios, including awful ones. But such apocalyptic visions are a form of escapism, not a moral summons, and still less a plan of action. Where we stumble is in conjuring up grim futures in a way that helps to avert them.

That problem is not specific to earthquakes, of course. The Cascadia situation, a calamity in its own right, is also a parable for this age of ecological reckoning, and the questions it raises are ones that we all now face. How should a society respond to a looming crisis of uncertain timing but of catastrophic proportions? How can it begin to right itself when its entire infrastructure and culture developed in a way that leaves it profoundly vulnerable to natural disaster?

The author also interviewed Doug Dougherty, the superintendent of schools for Seaside, which lies almost entirely within the tsunami-inundation zone in the Pacific Northwest. Of the four schools that Dougherty oversees, with a total student population of sixteen hundred, according to him, only one is relatively safe. The others sit five to fifteen feet above sea level. When the tsunami comes, they will be as much as forty-five feet below it.

The article ends with some pretty chilling final words:

Dougherty’s office is deep inside the inundation zone, a few blocks from the beach. All day long, just out of sight, the ocean rises up and collapses, spilling foamy overlapping ovals onto the shore. Eighty miles farther out, ten thousand feet below the surface of the sea, the hand of a geological clock is somewhere in its slow sweep. All across the region, seismologists are looking at their watches, wondering how long we have, and what we will do, before geological time catches up to our own.

Now let’s take a look at David Wilkerson’s disturbing 1974 prophecy.  Note that Wilkerson specifically states that an earthquake ‘possibly’ in Japan, may precede the one he sees coming here. Could that earthquake have been the one that struck Tohoku, Japan,  in 2011? If that is the case, does that mean we are not far off from the “BIG” one?:

The United States is going to experience in the not-too-distant
future the most tragic earthquakes in its history. One day soon
this nation will be reeling under the impact of the biggest news
story of modern times. It will be coverage of the biggest most
disastrous earthquake in history.

It will cause widespread panic and fear, Without a doubt, it will
become one of the most completely reported earthquakes ever.
Television networks will suspend all programming and carry all
day coverage.

Another earthquake , possibly in Japan may precede the one that
I see coming here. There is not the slightest doubt in my mind
about this forthcoming massive earthquake in our continent.

I am not at all convinced that this earthquake will take place in
California. In fact, I believe it is going to take place where it is
least expected. This terrible earthquake may happen in an area
that not known as an earthquake belt. It will be so high on the
Richter scale that it will trigger two other major earthquakes.
