It’s really difficult to determine—seriously—who in the Middle East hates the United States the most; Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iran, (or maybe Turkey?).
Thus, if there were to be a military incident in the the Persian Gulf, resulting in a comparatively minor loss of military equipment and/or personnel to the United States, who would be the most like culprit?
Seriously.
Who would be the MOST likely culprit?
Would it be Israel, or Saudi Arabia (in concert with Turkey), who would be more likely to attempt to draw the United States into its conflict with Iran?
Or, on the other hand, would Iran itself decide to attack the United States for reasons similar to why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor?
(There are certain indications that, in the not-too-distant future, this may very well not be merely a theoretical question.)
