Essential Doctrines For Christians – In Essentials Unity In Nonessentials Liberty

There are most definitely essential doctrines for Christians. The New Testament Law of Christ comes in at number two on our list of essential doctrines of the Christian Faith. This article is part two of the Essential doctrines of the Christian Faith Series.

Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

The multitude of so-called pastors within the religion known as Christianity that practice the Old Testament Law contrary to the Word of God, will be judged accordingly.

Within the modern dictates of men there are a limited number of essential doctrines for Christians to adhere to.

The statement that in Essentials we are to have Unity, and in Nonessentials Liberty, is nonsensical and is also the definition of an oxymoron. This statement truly is a combination of contradictory words. All of the doctrines or teachings of Christ are essential doctrines for Christians.

In part three of this series we will provide a textbook example of the false teachers definition of a non-essential doctrine.

Mark 2:21-22 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

Essential Doctrines For Christians

One of the essential doctrines for Christians is that it is impossible to mix the New Testament Covenant that has the saving blood of Christ, with the Old Testament Law that did not. They simply are contrary to one another.

Putting new wine into an old bottle will cause both to perish, because the old bottle is not designed for the new. Under the Old Testament Law there was a temple that God’s Spirit dwelt in. Under the new law of Christ we are the temple that he dwells in (1 Cor 3:16-17; 1 Cor 6:19).

Essential Doctrines For Christians – The New Testament Law of Christ

When we understand the essential doctrines for Christians, we are made aware that the new law of Christ is not only better, it also happens to be the only choice available. The reason is the old has passed away. Any man in Christ is a new creation and all things have become new.

The new bottle refers to the vessel unto honor that is purged from iniquity through the Power of The Holy Spirit that resides in the Elect. Old things are passed away, to make place for the new covenant of Christ (2 Cor 5:17; 2 Tim 2:21).

John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now

Many of the essential doctrines for Christians are revealed in parables. Jesus Christ has brought forth the good or new wine which is the new covenant, last. The first wine which was the old covenant was not nearly as good. Also the first was fulfilled or completed in him on the Cross, and has vanished.

Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Christ’s death for us forever removed the possibility of the Old Testament sacrifices from ever occurring again. Christ was the final and perfect sacrifice that could cover all sins.

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

The unrighteous that did not have the Law of Christ written in their minds needed to be instructed not to kill, steal or commit adultery. The new Law of Christ written in the minds and placed in the hearts of the Elect, enable them to love others and Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Those who attempt to follow judaism, christianity or any other religion that is based on the traditions of men will never experience the Grace of Jesus Christ.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Without Faith in Christ nothing else matters. Faith or trust in the doctrines of men leads to destruction, and is simply self-righteousness and deception.

Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Essential Doctrines For Christians

The New Commandment of Christ is that we love each other, as He has loved us. By this the world will know that we are indeed his disciples, or followers of him (John 13:34-35). Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

This obviously is in reference to not being in bondage to the old law, and realizing the New Law of Christ.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

If we truly Love Christ we will keep his words (or commandments) and the Holy Spirit can abide in us if we submit unto him fully (John 14:23; James 4:7).

Essential Doctrines For Christians – The Old Law Is Obsolete

The Old Testament Law was given unto the Hebrews. This law included the commandments and ordinances. These were to be received and followed by faith. To attempt to keep these works or letters of the law without faith in God was unprofitable.

With the ushering in of the New Testament, Christ would provide:

  • A New Law unto salvation, that all of mankind could partake in.
  • The gift of the Holy Spirit that all could receive, to faithfully follow.

One of the essential doctrines for Christians is to faithfully receive the new law of Christ.

Rom 4:14 For if they which are of the law [be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

All who follow and accept Christ, who is God, are now the True Israel of God.

Gal 6:15-16 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Without the hearing through faith, the spirit that He sent would not be received. It is the infilling of the spirit of Christ that allows us to understand His word, and have true fellowship with Him.

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

The Old Testament law was a covenant between Jehovah and the Hebrews; this law had Ten Commandments written on tablets of stone. The New Testament is the covenant between Jesus and all who call upon His name. This law is the Spirit of Christ unto life.

Another of the essential doctrines for Christians, is to understand that Christ’s law has only Two Commandments, that are written on men’s hearts and in their minds (Heb 10:16; Math 22:37-39).

Romans 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Those that live for the flesh care for the things of the flesh, and those who are in the Spirit care for the things of the Spirit.

It is this carnal nature that leads to death, which is a separation from God. When we live in the Spirit, the righteousness of the law of liberty in Christ may be fulfilled. Those that stand in the liberty of the new law of Christ are never to entangle themselves with the Old Testament law of bondage (Gal 5:1).

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

We are not justified by the works of Old Testament Law, or the ordinances, rules and offerings. We can only be saved through faith by the working of Christ’s grace.

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Under Old Testament Law, if you offend in one point you are guilty of all. Galatians chapter four explains the bondage of the first covenant and the freedom in the second.

Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, [it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

 Essential Doctrines For Christians

When we understand the essential doctrines for Christians, it becomes clear that no one after Christ could be declared righteous through the Old Testament Law. As well no man can keep the old law as the New Law is now in play.

Essential Doctrines For Christians – Men Are Not Made For The Sabbath

The keeping of the Sabbath is not a commandment that the followers of Christ are to adhere to, and tithing does not apply to us either.

False teachers in the Christian churches like to keep people under the bondage of the old law, and away from the freedom in Christ. These doctrines of men are taught to and followed by multitudes today.

Christ never told us to keep the Sabbath. The keeping of even one day holy unto the Lord was contrary to man’s nature, and thus the reason for the Old Testament Law. Living in Christ enables the Spirit filled believer to regard every day as holy.

The Sabbath was made for men, but men are not made for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27).

The Judeans sought to kill Jesus because He had broken the Sabbath.

The word broken in this verse has several meanings including:

  • To loose or set free
  • To annul
  • To do away with, or declare something unlawful
  • Jesus is Lord even of the Sabbath (Math 12:8).

Jesus performed many works purposely on the Sabbath (Math 12:10-12; Mark 3:1-6; Luke 13:16; John 5:9; John 9:14).

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Christ, on the cross, abolished the law of commandments and the ordinances. As a result he made it possible for all to be of the commonwealth of Israel.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath

Essential Doctrines For Christians – The Old Testament Law Is Fulfilled In Christ

Math 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

This verse presents us with a simple yet profound message of the workings of Christ that is not understood by many. In fact it is one of the verses most often quoted to falsely claim that the Old Law is still in force.

However what Christ is declaring, is that He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament law and the prophecies.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

So Christ fulfilled the Old Testament law or contract, and once a contract has expired or is completed it is no longer then in force.

The Old Testament Law has been replaced by the New Testament Covenant. As a result of the death and resurrection of Christ, true Spirit filled believers are not under the Old Testament Law. There are essential doctrines for Christians to understand, and this one is paramount.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

 Essential Doctrines For Christians

The Old Testament law is fulfilled in Christ, and they are revealed to us in the New Testament Covenant..

Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

The Old Testament Law of Moses, written on tablets of stone, was given unto Israel after the flesh. These people continuously rejected God the Father and served many strange gods, only a remnant sought Jehovah through faith.

Jer 31:33 But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The second covenant was the Law of Christ written in the hearts of men, who are called Israel after the Spirit. This passage refers to the whole house of Israel. All of mankind can now believe in Christ and serve Him in newness of Spirit through faith, hope and love. Everyone that trusts in the cross of Christ can become the Israel of God.

Isa 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart [is] my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of them.

Isaiah prophesized of the true followers of God; this people would know the new law of Christ and it would be in their hearts and minds. Following the New Testament law of Jesus instead of the traditions of men, would enable them to one day receive redemption at Christ’s second coming.

I believe I will post this as a paper on BIN. soon

I will now go through what you have listed below – line by line — showing every single twisted scripture, every single corruption of the WORD of GOD.

I will welcome you to use scripture and logic to prove you are correct and I am the liar.
I doubt you will avail yourself of that opportunity as the Words of God will prove others wise.

I look forward to a meaningful discussion regarding these “essential” doctrines of yours.
