This is the heir; let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours!
The Parable of the Vineyard is a description of Christ’s attempt to reach the House of Judah. The Judeans for the most part rejected Jesus, and in doing so he also rejected them. He then set about to give the promise to others.
Mark 12:6-7 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
The Parable of the Vineyard was Christ’s prophecy concerning his own betrayal and death, as well as His true church (Mark 12:8-9).
The Parable of the Vineyard was a final warning to a reprobate religious group.
Here we have yet another parable directed towards the chief priests, scribes, and the elders of the people of Judea.
God sent his servants or prophets to the first people of Israel, and they killed them.
He then sent his Son Jesus Christ and they killed him as well. The Judeans for the most part rejected Jesus, and in doing so he also rejected them. He then set about to give the promise to others.
Isaiah chapter 65
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
The Parable of the Vineyard was spoken to self-righteous hypocrites of iniquity.
Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
But ye are they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee,
and call his servants by another name:
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Christ is sought out and found by all nations or peoples, who hear the Word. This includes those, who would believe on him in Judea.
The new wine refers to those who would obey and follow Christ, and his New Testament.
The price that all rebellious self righteous people will pay, who forsake him will be destruction and torment for all of eternity.
The Parable of the Vineyard warning, is also for the deceived religious people of today.
The elect refers to the believer in Christ Jesus as seen in the verse below.
1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
The words My Chosen, are in reference to the New Testament believers in Christ who are sanctified by the blood of the covenant.
Christ would also call his servants by another name, Christians.

John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now
Jesus Christ has brought forth the good or new wine last, (the New Testament or Covenant) as the first wine, was not nearly as good (the Old Testament). Also the first was fulfilled or completed in him, on the Cross, and has vanished.
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
The Old Testament reveals Christ our Savior who can cleanse us from all our sins
Luke 22:17-18 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood,which is shed for you.
This is the emphasis of the entire New Testament.
Luke 5:36-39 No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better
The Parable of the Vineyard is also in reference to Christ’s New Covenant.
It is impossible to mix the new wine or New Testament Covenant, which has the saving blood of Christ, with the Old Testament Covenant that did not.
Putting new wine into an old bottle will cause the bottle to perish, because it will not fully accept it. The complete acceptance of the testimony of Jesus is essential for the believer.
Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Putting the new law of Christ into an old vessel or body wherein a person claims righteousness in the law, causes the grace of Jesus to be inoperative.
No one who is under the old law immediately wants the new, because he believes the old is better.
Any man in Christ is a new creation, in other words a temple that is made for him, or set apart unto him, so that he can dwell in it. This is the new bottle or vessel required for the Holy Spirit to reside in, whereby we are justified freely by his grace alone, through his shed blood.
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
As new creations in Christ we are to operate with his spirit in faith unto good works.
Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
2 Tim 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

1 Cor 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
